Sun in H-Alpha Prominences
Prominences at the solar limb in hydrogen alpha, the red line of hydrogen at 656.28 nm. These are clouds of gas held above the surface by magnetic fields, and they are visible at all only because the filter rejects everything except that one line. The DayStar Quark passes half an angstrom or less of that line, narrow enough to show the chromosphere, the layer above the visible surface, instead of the surface itself.
