# Sun photosphere in white light (1 of 2)

The Sun's photosphere, the visible surface, in white light. Several sunspot groups are on the disc, each with a dark umbra and a lighter penumbra around it, brighter faculae show near the edge, and the disc dims towards the limb, where the slanted line of sight reaches only the higher and cooler gas. Photographed with an Svbony 432MC on a Skywatcher GTI.
